Harmony Fest, Bridge Walk

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

Harmony Fest is today… yes there is a sprinkle of rain, but ya won’t melt. :-) Harmony Fest is best known for its lineup of blues performers, but at 1:00 you can hear the area’s best bluegrass, the Wasepi Bluegrass Band. The “Harmony Idol” contest will be from 3 to 5 at the Riviera Theater. Downtown Three Rivers (park in one of the lots behind downtown, Main Street is blocked off.) See the website and Facebook page for the itinerary and more -http://www.trharmonyfest.com/
or listen to WLKM River Country 97.1 for other announcements.

Memory Isle Footbridge

Monday is a chance to walk some of Three Rivers — and it is a great town for walking! Between 9am and noon you can pick up a “passport” (free) and maps, and create your own walk, sponsored and organized by the Three Rivers Women’s Club. For a detailed report, including a wonderful interview with Sally Amador, go to the River Country Journal article, http://www.rivercountryjournal.info/2011/09/02/three-rivers-bridge-walk-set-for-monday-labor-day/. You can pre-register for the walk (they would like that, since it helps them plan) on the website for the event, http://trbridges.wordpress.com.

There is also a Facebook Event Page for the Bridge Walk, but you have to have a Facebook account and log in to see the Event page. If you have a Facebook account, or want to create one, click on this link to read more about the Bridge Walk: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=173659086038753. Otherwise, just go to their website, nothing to join there.

Next year, let’s get a 3rivartists Guild event together to join in with these events!

Artists’ Inspiration Day

Monday, August 15th, 2011

A lively bunch of Guild members got out of their “comfort zone” and tried some new media in a workshop led by Gail Walters in Lisa & Mike’s sunny studio downtown on Sunday. Textures, tape, poured acrylics, metallic paint…

Art in August

Friday, August 5th, 2011

Lots going on this month!
Guild members interested in her workshop, call Gail Walters, it will be August 14.
The Three Rivers Art Hop is August 19, prospective participants call Mary.

Out of area are:
The Vicksburg Art Hop, 5 to 9 pm August 12, online info not too clear, but Becky recommends visiting the studio of pastel artist Coco Sweeney during the hop at 105 Main St. (Link is to Facebook)

Brian sends word of the Bluegill Frolic Aug. 26-28 in Marcellus.
The Marcellus DDA is spearheading an attempt to rehab the old Columbian Hotel in Marcellus into an “arts building.” On Saturday, August 27, the Hudson Memorial Building in conjunction with the Columbian Hotel Committee and the Bluegill Frolic Committee will host an “unjuried artist show and sale”. 10×15 spaces will be $20 inside in the gym or outside on the lawn, a donation to the building fund. Call Julia Birt 580-1216 for more information.

More info about the Bluegill Frolic: http://bluegillfrolic.com. Marcellus Bluegill Frolic LLC has a “call for artists” for their “Craft/Vendor Fair”. All booths must be registered through the MBF LLC process. Download their entry form at http://bluegillfrolic.com/downloads/BlueGillFrolic2011-VendorBoothForm.pdf. This seems to be different from the above, not sure.
