Becky Hackenberg

Photography is one way Becky shares her love and wonder of Nature. As a child roaming field and wood, she was taken by the texture, light, color, and amazing detail of the natural world. The micro-world of a pollen-laden flower, layered bark on a sycamore tree, afternoon light coming through a leaf; they were, and are, her food for the soul.

Helping people connect with that world has become a second career. Along with their photographs, watercolors and art cards she and husband, Larry-Michael Hackenberg, write a weekly column called “Living In Harmony With the Cycles of Earth” which reminds people how to stay engaged with the natural environment.

Another aspect of this second career is connecting Three Rivers area artists with each other and with the community. In Spring of 2009 her idea for an artists’ guild came into being with the help of 14 charter member artists. It is a joy to see these talented people express their ideas of nature and life through their various mediums. Art in the life of a community feeds that community at its very roots. The Three Rivers Artists Guild is not only about expression, but about that nourishing of community.

You may find this merry band of artists at their Second Sunday Art Markets in the Park, their Annual Holiday Gallery/Market and at the Downtown Three Rivers Art Hops. They are doing their best to help make Three Rivers a destination city!
